GLUTATHIONE

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant found in most living cells, from bacteria to mammals. In fact, it is called the body’s “master antioxidant” or the “mother of all antioxidants.”1 It is a tripeptide structure consisting of three different amino acids: glutamine, cysteine, and glycine. It plays a critical role in protecting cells from oxidative stress.2,5

Oxidative stress is an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants in the body that can cause cell and tissue damage. Oxidative stress occurs naturally and plays a role in the aging process. UV radiation, air pollution, smoking or alcohol use, and chronic diseases are some of the conditions that cause oxidative stress. ³
